Welcome & Introduction

Hello, and welcome to the official author site for A. Zeiser! The purpose of this blog is to share updates about my writing journey. Let’s start with a little bit about myself and my writing experience (some of this information is repeated from my “About Me” page).

It goes without saying that writing has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I love to write poetry, short stories, full-length books, essays, research papers, articles, long-winded social media posts… If I think of it, I write it! In addition to writing, I love to read; fantasy, memoirs, historical nonfiction, & historical fiction are some of my favorite genres, and my favorite books are The Hobbit (J.R.R. Tolkien), The Lord of the Rings (J.R.R. Tolkien), and Lieutenant Hornblower (C.S. Forester). I absolutely love anything nautical-related or books that pertain to the history of the Royal Navy or general seafaring. I am fascinated with understanding how the mind works, so books about psychology, mental health, and studies of human behavior are riveting to me. I love language and study multiple languages when I have the time; I love German, but my favorite language to study is Latin. Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata: Familia Romana by Hans Ørberg is an essential of mine (I drop this title every chance that I get, because it’s such a powerful and entertaining resource that more people should know about!). Reading and discovering good literature is important to me!

My writing experience began as a young child. Although (as of right now) I don’t have any professional experience in the writing industry, writing has always been a big part of my life. Growing up, my favorite movies and TV shows had a large influence on what I wrote about. I wrote of epic adventures with my favorite characters- namely, Indiana Jones and Captain Kirk. I was writing fanfiction before I was even familiar with the term! Between the ages of twelve and thirteen, I wrote a full story of Don Diego De La Vega’s quest to subdue the corrupt Capitán Monastario’s tyrannical rule over 19th-century Los Angeles (based on Disney’s Zorro). That was the first long work I completed, and I’m still proud of it to this day!

As a teenager, I continued writing regularly. I started sharing some of my works on Wattpad; I loved the writing community and gained a couple of hundred followers. Although it wasn’t much, it furthered my desire to share my writings with the world and provided me with valuable writing experience. I still enjoyed writing a good fanfiction here and there, but my writing style began to evolve into other avenues. I loved reading high-fantasy novels, such as The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and Eragon. I was drawn to these mythological worlds and started creating my own. I discovered a deep love for poetry while reading classic works by authors such as Edgar Allan Poe and Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and I also began writing poetry. After having children, I developed a newfound love for children’s literature and started focusing my efforts towards writing lyrical children’s books.

I have always been a fan of traditional nursery rhymes and the magic they contained. I enjoyed the writings of authors such as Dr Seuss and Roald Dahl, and my books reflect a similar style of writing. Stories of magic and adventure have always appealed to me. Similarly, fantasy and whimsy are important parts of my writing; many of my completed works reflect this. In addition to fantasy, many of my stories contain virtue and life lessons while still being entertaining. I enjoy writing both rhyming and non-rhyming stories for all ages. Recently, I have been focusing on writing children’s books; however, I still dabble in adult literature and would like to write a mixture of both in the future. Although I currently focus on children’s books, I write stories that can be understood and enjoyed by children and adults alike. I think it’s important for adults to enjoy the books they read to their children, and I strive to write books that will be loved and appreciated by people of all ages. I have many completed books that I look forward to sharing with the world! Writing new stories and books is an important part of my everyday life.

I am currently working towards a career as a published author. I have just begun the process of submitting & querying literary agents. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me! Thank you for your support and for taking the time to learn more about me and my writings!
